1、tank /tæŋk/
tanker /ˈtæŋkə/
tank是名词，指盛放液体或气体的“容器”，如水槽、鱼缸、油罐等，从读音也可以看出另外一个意思“坦克”，而tanker则指“油罐车，邮轮”。注意两个词的区别。
The water tank is leaking.
水箱在漏水。
Somehow the chemical got from a storage tank into water supplies.
不知怎么的，这种化学物从储存箱进入了供水系统。
The tanker ran aground in heavy seas and is breaking up on the rocks.
油轮在波涛汹涌的大海中触礁，船体开裂。
2、tap /tæp/
tap是常用词，作名词意为“水龙头，阀门”，也可指“轻拍，轻轻敲击”。tap也可作动词，意为“轻拍，轻叩”，另一个重要意思是“利用，开发”，这个意思也可用tap into。
She went into the bathroom and turned on the taps.
她走进浴室，打开水龙头。
There was a tap at the door.
有人轻轻地敲了一下门。
One of my staff tapped me on the shoulder.
我的一个员工轻拍了一下我的肩膀。
We hope that additional sources of funding can be tapped.
我们希望还有其他资金来源可以利用。
The movie seems to tap into a general sentimentality about animals.
这部电影似乎在激发人们对动物的普遍怜惜之情。
3、tape /teɪp/
tape作名词，指“磁带，录音带，录像带”，也可指细长的“带子，布条”或者“胶带”。
Tape is expensive and loses sound quality every time it is copied.
磁带成本高，而且每录制一次音质就会变差一些。
I've got that film on tape if you want to borrow it.
我已经把那部电影录了下来，你可以借去看。
The papers were in a pile, tied together with a tape.
报纸叠成一摞，用带子捆了起来。
4、tar /tɑː/
tar作名词，指“沥青，柏油”，也指香烟中的“焦油”，tar作动词，意为“在…上铺柏油”，这个意思常用过去分词tarred作形容词，指“铺上柏油的”。
They drove across the river to New Hampshire on a hot tar road.
他们沿着一条滚烫的柏油路开过了河，来到新罕布什尔州。

5、tariff /ˈtærɪf/
tariff是名词，意为“关税”，在经济类的文章中很常见。
America wants to eliminate tariffs on items such as electronics.
美国打算取消电子产品等的关税。
The government may impose tariffs on imports.
政府可能要对进口货物征收关税。
6、tear n. /tɪə/ v. /teə/
tear作名词，意为“眼泪，泪水”，tear作动词，意为“撕开，撕裂”，过去式和过去分词分别为tore /tɔː/ 和 torn /tɔːn/。
She was conscious of being very near to tears.
她意识到自己快哭出来了。
He took a small notebook from his jacket pocket and tore out a page.
他从上衣口袋里掏出小笔记本，撕下来一页。
The storm nearly tore the roof off.
暴风雨差一点儿把屋顶掀掉。
She tore the letter to pieces and threw it in the bin.

7、tease /tiːz/
tease作动词，意为“戏弄，取笑”某人。
I was only teasing, I didn't mean to upset you.
我只是在开玩笑，不是有意要惹你难过的。
I used to hate being teased about my red hair when I was at school.
我上学期间一直讨厌别人取笑我的红头发。
8、tedious /ˈtiːdiəs/
tedious是形容词，意为“单调乏味的，枯燥的，冗长的”。
The arguments were tedious and complicated.
那些论点冗长而繁复。
We had to listen to the tedious details of his operation.
我们不得不听他唠叨他那次行动繁琐的细节。
9、telegram /ˈtelɪɡræm/
telegraph /ˈtelɪɡrɑːf/
telegram是名词，意为“电报，电文”，是可数名词，而telegraph指“电报”这种信息沟通方式，是不可数名词。
I sent a telegram to my mother saying (that) I had arrived safely in London.
我给母亲拍电报说,我已安抵伦敦。
The news came by telegraph.
这个消息是由电报传来的。
10、banner /ˈbænə/
banner是名词，意为“横幅，标语”。
The onlookers were shouting, cheering, and waving banners.
观众挥动着横幅，又是叫喊又是欢呼。
She’d never felt the need to carry the banner of feminism.
她从来都不觉得有必要打出女权主义的旗号。
They won the election under the banner of lower taxes.
他们打着降低税收的口号，在选举中胜出。
