give someone the runaround 是一句比较流行的美式习惯用语，单看runaround是由run和around组合而来，可联想为“领着别人到处跑”，进而引申为“回避，搪塞”，所以这个短语的意思是：“敷衍塞责，搪塞某人”。因此，当美国人说"Don't give me the runaround again."时，他/她要表达的意思就是:"Don't stall me off with such unreasonable excuses."、"Don't just pay lip-service to me."。
