1、accommodate /əˈkɒmədeɪt/
accommodate是个常用动词，主要有四个意思。
第一，指房间或建筑物能够“容纳…”。
The car park can accommodate about 200 cars. 这个停车场可以容纳大约200辆汽车。
第二，意为“为…提供住宿”。
The hotel can accommodate up to 500 guests. 这家旅馆可供 500 位旅客住宿。
第三，意为“考虑到，顾及”。
The new policies fail to accommodate the disabled. 策没有照顾到残疾人士的利益。
第四，accommodate sth/yourself to意为“使…适应…”。
Some animal and plant species cannot accommodate to the rapidly changing conditions. 某些种类的动植物不能适应迅速变化的环境。
2、accompany /əˈkʌmpəni/
accompany是动词，常用accompany sb 意为“陪同或陪伴某人”，也可以指给“某人伴奏”，搭配A accompany B意为“A和B同时发生，A伴随B”。
His wife accompanied him on the trip. 那次旅行他由妻子陪同。
The singer was accompanied on the piano by her sister. 女歌手由她姐姐钢琴伴奏。
The disease is accompanied by sneezing and fever. 这种病伴有打喷嚏和发烧症状。
The proposal was instantly voted through with two to one in favour,accompanied by enthusiastic applause. 在热烈的掌声中，提案以2比1的优势很快通过了表决。
3、accomplish /əˈkʌmplɪʃ/
accomplish是动词，意为“完成，实现”。
The students accomplished the task in less than ten minutes. 学生不到十分钟就完成了任务。
They are skeptical about how much will be accomplished bylegislation. 他们对于立法成效心存疑虑。
4、accord /əˈkɔːd/
accord作名词时,指国家或团体之间的“条约，协议”。另外，accord作名词常用早三个短语之中，of sb's own accord 意为“出于自愿，主动地”;be in accord with sth 意为“与…一致”;with one accord 意为“同时地，一致地”。
On 31 May the two leaders signed a peace accord. 5月31日两位领导人签署了一项和平协议。
In many cases the disease will clear up of its own accord. 这种病很多情况下会自愈。
The project is completely in accord with government policy. 该项目完全符合政府政策。
With one accord they turned and walked back over the grass. 他们步调一致地转身走过草坪。
accord还可作动词，此时有两个意思。
第一，accord with sth 意为“与…一致”。
His version of events does not accord fully with the facts. 他对事情的描述与事实不完全相符。
第二，意为“给予”权力、地位或待遇，常跟双宾语。
Every school accords high priority to the quality of teaching. 每所学校都高度重视教学质量。
You will not be accorded any special treatment. 你不会得到任何特殊待遇。
5、account /əˈkaʊnt/
account是个常见词，作名词和动词都可以，意思也比较多，这里列出常见几种。
作名词时，有以下几种意思。
第一，意为“账户”。
I had two accounts with Natwest, a savings account and a current account. 我在国民威斯敏斯特银行有两个账户，一个储蓄账户和一个活期存款账户。
第二，意为“叙述，描写”。
He gave a detailed account of what happened on the fateful night. 他详细描述了那个灾难性夜晚所发生的事。
第三，意为“解释，说明”
This basic utilitarian model gives a relatively unsophisticated account of human behaviour. 这个实用的基础模型较为简略地解释了人类的行为。
第四，短语take account of sth或者take sth into account 意为“考虑某事”，短语on account of sth意为“由于某事”。
These figures do not take account of changes in the rate of inflation. 这些数字没有把通货膨胀率的变化考虑进去。
The President declined to deliver the speech himself, on account of a sore throat. 总统因嗓子不适而婉拒了亲自讲话。
account作动词时，常用两个结构。
第一，A be acounted B 意为“A被视作B，A被认为是B”。
She was accounted a genius by all who knew her work. 所有认识她作品的人都认为她是个天才。
第二，account for 常见有两个意思，①占(一定数量或比例);②是…的原因，解释。
The Japanese market accounts for 35% of the company's revenue. 日本市场占该公司收入的 35%。
Now, the gene they discovered today doesn't account for all those cases. 不过，他们现在发现的基因无法解释所有的病例。
6、accountant /əˈkaʊntənt/
accountant是名词，意为“会计师，会计”。
We talked to the company's chief accountant. 我们和公司的总会计师进行了交谈。
7、accumulate /əˈkjuːmjəleɪt/
accumulate是动词，意为“积累，积聚”。
Households accumulate wealth across a broad spectrum of assets. 家庭在以各种各样的资产形式积累财富。
Investigators have yet to accumulate enough evidence. 调查人员尚需收集足够的证据。
8、accurate /ˈækjərət/
accurate是形容词，意为“精确的，准确的，精密的”。
Police believe Derek gave a reasonably accurate account of what happened. 警方相信德里克对事情的叙述是比较准确的。
They were accurate in their prediction that he would change her life drastically. 他们预测得没错，他使她的生活发生了翻天覆地的变化。
9、accuse /əˈkjuːz/
accuse是动词，意为“谴责，控告”，它的搭配为accuse sb of sth。
They openly accused her of dishonesty. 他们公开指责她不诚实。
Her assistant was accused of theft and fraud by the police...她的助手被警方指控犯有盗窃和欺诈罪。
10、accustomed /əˈkʌstəmd/
accustomed是形容词，常用在be accustomed to (doing) sth，意为“习惯于做某事”。
He was well accustomed to hard work. 他早已习惯了艰苦工作。
She was a person accustomed to having eight hours' sleep a night.
她是那种习惯每晚睡八个小时的人。
