Nowadays many parents send their children to study abroad. As those students have lost the protective umbrella from their parents, they find themselves besieged by various challenges.
The first challenge for students studying overseas is that they are disconnected from their family and friends. Living in another country is definitely an experience that plunges a person into the unknown. Everything that they are used to is completely turned upside down. Those who could otherwise turn to their parents and friends for help may feel helpless when troubles fall on them. Language barrier is probably another big challenge of studying abroad. Even if most of them can speak the local language, the strong local accent and slang phrases are still difficult for them to understand.
If they try their best to build up a new support network abroad, everything will be easier. Immersing themselves in the local environment also helps them gradually improve their listening and speaking skills. Challenges mean not only hardship, but also opportunity. As long as they properly handle them, they will find studying abroad a worthwhile experience.
