　　56.admit of，allow of，permit of 表示一种留有余地的 “容许”时，这三个短语都是很正式的措辞，用法一样，一般情况下都可以换成及物性质的admit，allow，permit。The facts admit/allow/permit ( of) no other explanation. “事实不容许另作解释。”

　　avail of, make the most of, make use of, take advantage of 它们都是 “利用” 之意。avail of 一般说成avail oneself of，一般的 “利用” 意义，是正式的措辞：You should avail yourself of every chance to practise speaking English. “你应该利用一切机会练习讲英语。

　　make the most of 是 “充分利用”：We have only a few hours so we must make the most of our time. “我们只有几小时时间，因此必须充分利用我们的时间。

　　make use of 又是一般的 “利用” 意义，具体怎么利用，可以通过use 前添加修饰语来实现：You must make good use of any opportunities you have to practise English. “你必须好好利用所有的机会练习英语。”

　　take advantage of 的 “利用” 一般是于己有利的利用：He always takes full use of the mistakes made by his rivals. 他总是充分利用他的对手所犯的错误。”Jean's mother warned her that men would try to take advantage of her. 琼的母亲警告她，男人会利用她的幼稚而占她的便宜。
