The international financial crisis has inflicted a severe impact on our economy, which, as a result, saw a drastic shrinking of external demand and serious excess in production. As the economic growth began to slow markedly, businesses were beset with difficulties in production and management and unemployment rate was on the rise. In light of this, the Chinese government swiftly launched the ten measures to expand domestic demand and put the economy on a track of sound development. Together with a package plan to counter the global financial crisis, these steps have arrested the downward spiral of the economy in time. Besides, we stepped up our economic cooperation and exchanges with the rest of the world through more imports, more overseas investment and more foreign aids. We also strengthened macroeconomic coordination with other countries concerned and promoted reform in international trade and financial systems, making constructive efforts for a better global recovery.
